If an individual is already taking vitamin D supplements, they will need to stop taking the supplement for 4 weeks before receiving a vitamin D injection.

This allows their body to use up any stored vitamin D and the injection can then be administered.
Also advise the individual not to take any multi vitamin, containing vitamin D or vitamin D supplements after having the vitamin D injection.

This is due to possible toxicity from too much vitamin D, which could cause health implications for the individual.

Here are symptoms of Vitamin D overdose:
Dehydration.

Abdominal cramps/ache.

Diarrhoea.

Nausea.

Vomiting.

Constipation.

Weakness.

Poor appetite.

Weight loss.

Confusion.

Disorientation.

Fatigue.

Kidney stones.

Kidney Damage.

Heart Rhythm Problems.

Hyperglycaemia.
Contra-indications

Individuals who have the following:
Kidney and liver problems.

Heart problems or conditions.

Any person undergoing medical treatment.

Active acute treatment.

Diabetes.

Cancer patients.

Allergies/allergy to the product.

Pregnancy.

Breastfeeding.

Please refer an individual to their GP, Consultant, or healthcare

professional if they have any of the above contraindications. Please also refer back, if an individual has a condition and taking medication.
The healthcare provider can then confirm whether it is safe for their patient to receive the vitamin D injection.
